A Celebration of Life service with Military Honors for Gary Allen Smith, 78, of Corinth is set for Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2:00pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Military Honors and interment to follow in Booneville City Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Monday, October 22, 2018 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Magnolia Funeral Home . Born July 28, 1940 in Kosciusko, MS., Gary passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. His first career was with the U. S. Postal service to which he retired in 1995. He later owned and operated a retail store in Booneville, MS for 15 years until his retirement in 2017. Gary was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Booneville. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and meeting his McDonald Coffee buddies. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and attended events often. Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda DePoyster Smith of Corinth; son, Tim Smith (Tracey) of Corinth; daughter: Natalie Renison (Julie Hawkins) of Kodak, TN; 5 grandchildren: Nolan Renison (Shelby), Amanda Renison, Savannah Smith, Victoria Smith and Nyles Smith; 2 great grandchildren: Caroline Renison and Margaret Renison; sister: Carolyn Hempel of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law: Faye Smith of Mantachie, MS; niece: Donna Norman of St. Louis, MO; nephews: Lamar Farmer of New Albany, MS, Craig Smith (Sherry) of Mantachie, MS and John Hempel of Atlanta, GA; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his father: Jessee Allen Smith; mother: Mildred Gentry Smith and his brother: Stanley Smith. Rev. Jonathan Soden will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First United Pentecostal Church of Booneville building fund or a charity of your choice.
