A Celebration of Life service for G.W. White, 90 of Savannah, TN, will be Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 P M at The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Nixon, TN. Interment will follow at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nixon, TN. Rev. Nathan Webb and Bro. Tommy Jack Worley will officiate the service. Visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 5:00 P M to 9:00 P M and Friday, January 18, 2019 from 9:00 until service time at The Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. Mr. White passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Savannah Health Care. He was born March 9, 1928 in Savannah, TN to Robert Andrew Taylor White and Rhoda Elizabeth Howard White. He worked for the public for more than 76 years. He loved his years at Savannah Button Factory and the Savannah Ice Plant. G.W. worked at Nixon School, where he built the fires that kept the school warm and cleaned up. He helped Bale Briley farm and he worked at Bill Bellis Botel in 1946. In 1975, he worked at Parrish Manufacturing Gun Factory. He worked at the Hardin County Solid Wast Nixon Center until the age of 90. H was one of the founders of the Nixon Volunteer Fire Department and one of the firefighters for more than 30 years. He was a member of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church. He always had a side job - he set out pine trees and helped anyone that needed help. He raised a big garden and could fix just about anything. He took care of his momma and daddy until they passed. He had a saying: "We always had food on our table, shoes on our feet and a place to rest." G.W. is survived by his two daughters, Anita Hindmon (Charles) of Savannah, TN and Elizabeth Higgins of Henderson, TN; his son, Gerald White (Gayle) of Smyrna, TN; 9 grandchildren, Amanda Stricklin (Roger), Kim Webb (Nathan), Rebecca Watkins (Andy), Jimmy White (Tara), Allison White, Erin Qualls (Cody), Zach Higgins, Maleia Carpenter and Sarah Hill; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold White (Betty) of Greenbrier, TN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, 4 months and 8 days, Anna Belle Collier White; his son-in-law, Anthony Higgins; his father, Robert Andrew Taylor White; his mother, Rhonda Elizabeth Howard White; his brother, Frank White and his sister, Lola Riddle. Pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Zach Higgins, Andy Watkins, Benjamin Fair, Cody Qualls, Charles Howard and Ashton Webb. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. G.W. White.
