Mrs. Fredra Brooks Wilbanks went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 3, 2012 at the age of 95. She was born to Howard and Lottie Jones Brooks on May 21, 1917 in Alcorn County, MS. At a very young age she accepted Christ as her Savior. She joined Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church where her family were members. On February 28, 1936 she married Mark Wilbanks. Fredra joined her husband as a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. They later became faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church, then Kossuth Baptist Church. She and Mark were married for 47 years until he went to be with the Lord. Mrs. Wilbanks was a 1934 graduate of Alcorn Agricultural High School and received her B.A. degree from Mississippi State University in August 1956. She taught school in the Alcorn and Corinth City School Districts for 35 years. Mrs. Wilbanks was very community-minded being a member of several clubs. She was a noted genealogist and historian, often reminding her family of their ancestry. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Truitt Brooks and Billy Brooks, a son-in-law: Max Rhodes, her parents-in-law: John & Kit Bobo Wilbanks, brothers-in-law: Johnny Killough, Marlin Wilbanks, Mack Wilbanks, Claude Wilbanks and Eulas Nelson, sisters-in-law: Thelma Brooks, Elsie Wilbanks, Frances Wilbanks, Esba Wilbanks and Zena Nelson and a niece: Bonnie Brooks Raggett. She is survived by her daughter: Joy Dale Wilbanks Rhodes, her grandsons: Paul Rhodes and wife Gayle. John Rhodes and wife Debbie and Jim Rhodes and wife Kim; her great grandchildren: Hollye Rhodes, Mark Rhodes and wife Meredith, Drew Rhodes, Nathan Rhodes, Suzanne Rhodes, B.J. Owings and Luke Rhodes, all of Corinth, MS; one sister Vernell Killough of Nashville, TN and a sister-in-law Margie Brooks of Corinth, MS; Special Nieces and Nephews: Lynne Burton, Peggy Killough, Jerry Killough (Dale), Weldon Nelson (Nita), Ronnie Brooks (Patsy), Jimmy Raggett, Bill Nelson (Minnie), several Wilbanks, Nelson, Bobo nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons: Paul Rhodes, John Rhodes, Jim Rhodes, Mark Rhodes, Drew Rhodes, Nathan Rhodes and Luke Rhodes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill and Minnie Nelson, Gary and Linda Mitchell, Don and Marjorie Pace and Larry and Barbara Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home. Her service will be Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 am Kossuth Baptist Church. The eulogy will be given by Gayle Rhodes. Bro. Ralph Culp and Bro. Ray Newcomb will officiate. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
