Ernest Darris Bowen

Ernest Darris Bowen, 87, of Corinth, MS passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born in McNairy County, TN on April 29, 1934 to the late Eser D and Zelma Mae Crowe Bowen and was a US Army Veteran. Darris retired as a Quality Engineer with ITT and was a member of Waldron Street Christian Church. He was truly a family man and enjoyed spending time with those he loved. Fond memories of the family camping, spending time outdoors and working with his hands are part of the legacy of this good man. Darris will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he loved. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021at Magnolia Funeral Home - East. A Celebration of Darris’s life will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Magnolia Funeral Home East Chapel officiated by Jeff Browning and Charlie Browning. Interment will follow with military honors in Corinth National Cemetery. Those left to honor Darris’s memory include his son, William Todd Bowen of Corinth; his daughter, Cheryl Denise Dean (Lane) of Olive Branch; his grandchildren, Sara Denise Dunn (Ethan) and Corrie Melissa Christenbury (William); his brother, Delbert C. Bowen (Marie) of Guys, TN; his sisters, Brenda B. Browning (Charlie) of Corinth and Bettye B. Openbriar of Bartlett, TN; his brother-in-law, W.A. Cooley Jr. of Corinth; special neighbors, Kathy Fowler, Michele Frazier, and Betty Smith; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Cooley Bowen; his brother, James H. Bowen; his sister, Bonitha B. Rast; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
