Elmer Truitt Meeks, 77, of Corinth, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral Services are set for 11:00am, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with interment in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery
Born March 22, 1938 to the late Booker T. and Lottie Dellinger Meeks, Elmer began his career as a sewing machine repairman and opened Meeks Sewing Center in 1971. He was the owner and operator of this business until 2011. Elmer was of the Baptist faith and a member of Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Linda Meeks, two sons, Edwin Meeks and wife JuJuana and Ronald Meeks and wife Julie both of Corinth, three grandchildren, Matthew Meeks and wife Chasity, Charlie Meeks and Carolyn Grace Meeks all of Corinth, one great-grandson, Tristan Truitt Meeks, three brothers, Floyd Meeks and wife Maxine of Corinth, Alvin Meeks and wife Joann of Booneville and Troy Meeks and wife Martha of Corinth, three sisters, Ilene Wilbanks and husband Leiman, Virginia Smith and Nelda Mitchell and husband Rev. Ronnie Michell all of Corinth, a sister-in-law, Gloria Meeks of Corinth, special friend Lavaughn Carmichiel, other relatives and host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Booker T and Lottie Dellinger Meeks, the mother of his children, Carolyn King Meeks, and two brothers, Marvin Meeks and Bobby Lynn Meeks. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Wilbanks, Jimmy Rogers, Kent Mills, John Meeks, Mark Meeks, Russell Meeks, Jerry Shaw and Butch Carmichiel. Bro. Raybon Richardson will officiate the service. Visitation will be Monday May 11, 2015 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm and Tuesday May 12, 2015 from 10:00am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home.
