Effie McCord Hill, of Corinth, MS, born July 27, 1933, died Friday, February 28, 2014 in her home. Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Central Baptist Church, County Road 218 and Sunday, March 2, 2104 from 1:00p.m. until service time at Central Baptist Church. Services will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2104 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. Bro. Harold Floyd, Bro. Frank Wilson and Charlie Browning will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Fulton, MS. Mrs. Hill served in many places across the South as pastor’s wife for 50 years serving as State Missionary for 18 years. During that time they were responsible for starting , building and pasturing four churches and worked on seven state mission fields while helping complete several other churches. She was a wonderful Christian woman that enjoyed serving the Lord. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends . She loved her family immensely and had a tremendous sense of Southern hospitality. She will be greatly missed by her family and has left her mark on their hearts. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband of 62 years: Rev. Thelbert Hill of Corinth, MS; 2 daughters, Marsha Barry and husband Dickey of Corinth and Martha Eden and husband Lossie of Corinth; 5 grandchildren, Ricky Barry and wife Kristi of Corinth, Phillip Barry of Starkville, Tyler Eden of Nashville, TN, Tanner Eden of Corinth and McKenzie Eden of Corinth; one great grandchild, Presleigh Barry of Corinth; one sister, Eva Layton of Stringer, MS; a brother-in-law, Marzell Hill and wife Sylvia; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Troy Ishee McCord; 5 brothers, Milton, Earl, Burl, Luther and Burdette McCord and 2 sisters, Willie Pearl Moss and Nellie Jewel Dykes. Pallbearers will be Dickey Barry, Lossie Eden, Ricky Barry, Phillip Barry, Tyler Eden, Tanner Eden. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Odle and Rick Miller.
