Edward James Pride Residence: Iuka, MS Mr. Edward James Pride was born on August 19, 1940 to the union of Mack Pride, Sr. and Tessie B. Stewart Pride in Lambert, MS. Both parents preceded him in death. Edward attended Sledge Colored School and enjoyed playing both baseball and basketball. He earned a scholarship to play baseball at Alcorn A&M College but chose not to attend. After high school, Edward lived for a time in Memphis, TN. Later he moved to Tucson, Arizona for a number of years. From Tucson he moved to Denver, Colorado where he met his “Queen”, his wife Melba. He departed this life on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Corinth, MS. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 year, Melba Pride of Iuka, MS; his son, Ronald J. Pride and wife Jeri of Falling Waters, WV; his daughters, Miriam Wyatt of Denver, Colorado, E. Yvonne Grove of Denver, Colorado, Rosalyn Johnson of Naperville, IL, Adrienne Jones and husband James of Palmdale, CA; 14 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; his 3 sisters: Bessie Chambers of Chicago, IL, Catherine Sanders of Denver, Colorado and Maxine Pride of Dallas, TX; his 6 brothers, Jonas McIntyre of Chicago, IL, Mack Pride, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Charley Pride and wife Rozene of Dallas, Texas, Joe Lee Pride and wife Earnestine of Lambert, MS, Harmon Pride and wife Barbara of Seattle, WA and Stephen Pride and wife Pamelia of Garland, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Pride. Services will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00am at Magnolia Funeral Home in Corinth, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and Monday, January 21, 2013 from 10:00am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oaks Grove Cemetery in Iuka, MS. Pallbearers will be Wayne Helton, Paul Whitlock, John Whitlock, Greg Curry, George Reed and Knox Palmer.
