Dorothy Marie Burnett

Dorothy Marie Burnett, 96 of Corinth, MS, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 at her residence in Corinth, MS. She will be buried in South Carolina with a private family Memorial Service. Mrs. Burnett was born June 4. 1922 in Blythe GA to John Lewis Beckum and Mamie Taylor Beckum. She was a child welfare Supervisor from 1967 to 1989 for the Department of Human Services in Alcorn County. She was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Corinth. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Lynn Burnett Jones and husband J. P. of Whitesburg, GA and Kay Burnett Wilbanks and husband Travis of Corinth, MS; 2 grandchildren, Jason Jones and wife Tundi and Joshua Jones and wife Cheryl; her brother, Lewis Taylor Beckum and wife Veronica of Aiken, SC; her sisters, Margaret Black of Augusta, GA and Ruth Peiffer of Hilton Head Island, SC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben E. Burnett; her father, John Lewis Beckum; her mother, Mamie Taylor Beckum and her sister, Wilma Busey. In Lieu of Flowers the family request donations be made to the Library Fund at First Baptist Church of Corinth. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Dorothy Marie Burnett.
