Doris Ruth Whitfield

Funeral services for Doris Whitfield, 84, of Iuka, formerly of Corinth are set for Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2pm at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST with interment in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 12pm-2pm at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST. Bro. Mickey Trammel and Dr. Randy Bostick will officiate the service. Born March 18, 1940 in Kossuth, MS., Mrs. Whitfield passed from this life on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka.  She worked at Sterlings Department Store as a cashier then Weavers Pants factory as a machine operator and then at ITT/CMC in telephone assembly for 35 years before retiring. She is a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Doris was a mother, sister, wife, grandmother, friend, provider and cancer survivor who was kind hearted, humble and had a sweet spirit. She was an excellent country cook and baker. Doris enjoyed spending her time with family especially watching Darby play sports, cheering and doing church activities as she was growing up. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, listening to music and shopping. Doris is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kennedy; granddaughter, Darby Danielle Kennedy; sisters, Mary Kennedy and Sue Ballard; other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Randy Whitfield; father, Roy Wilbanks; mother, Ruby Crum Wilbanks; brothers, J. V. Wilbanks and Herman Wilbanks; sister, Kay Hale and the father of her children, James Whitfield.  In Lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association or St Jude Children Hospital .
