A Celebration of Life graveside service with Military Honors for Donald Lawrence Smith, 74 of Corinth, MS, will be Monday, December 23, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Corinth National Cemetery with interment to follow. Greg Woodruff will officiate the service. Mr. Smith passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born January 10, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Addison Lehman Smith and Alice Loretta Freshauf Smith. He was of the Christian faith and was an avid Rams football fan. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he was a radio operator. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Rifle Award, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device. He also was a Purple Heart recipient.
Donald is survived by his best friend, Ann M. Cooper of Rienzi, MS and her children, Shad Cooper and Bobbi Ann Ginet; his step-daughter, Bette McKnight (Ray) of North Carolina; his brother-in-law, William "Bill" Howe of Cerritos, Calif and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Addison Lehman Smith; his mother, Alice Loretta Freshauf Smith and his twin sister, Donna Howe. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Donald Lawrence Smith.
