Jean Newcomb, “Mean Jean”, 64, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at home in Corinth, MS surrounded by her loving family. Born in Corinth, Mississippi on September 22, 1947, she worked for many years at Magnolia Hosiery Mill. A lifelong Corinth resident, she was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. She was a true “one of a kind” that will forever be remembered by everyone’s life that she touched. She loved life and all the simple joys of living. Most of all she loved to travel and made many trips to Montana, California, New York City, Boston, England and the Gulf Coast where she would often slip away early in the morning without telling anyone just to watch the sunrise. Preceded in death by her father, Billy Morrow, her brother, Randy Morrow and a brother-in-law: Rodney Michael She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Jerry Newcomb of Corinth; 2 sons: Jeff Newcomb and his wife, Kim of Ocean Springs, MS and Jody Newcomb of Granby, CT; a grandson, Joshua Newcomb of Ocean Springs, MS; her mother, Rachel Morrow of Corinth; sisters: Peggy “Nurse Peggy” Parvin and her husband Eddie of Corinth, Rita King and her husband Wayne “Conte” of Dallas, GA, Robbie Michael of Corinth, and Sheri Hutto and her husband Wayne of South Carolina; brothers: Eugene Morrow and his wife, Jody of Vancleave, MS, Ray Morrow and his wife Debbie of Selmer, TN, and Ricky Morrow of Corinth, MS; her best friends: Donna Pittman, Cricket Bobo, Margie Evetts and Cyndi Smallwood, who she loved liked sisters, her church family and countless other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Tim Tyson, Larry King, Lowell Hinton, Dennis Bumpas, Wayne Prince & Truman Stockdale.The family would like to thank Melissa for the wonderful love and support that she provided the family, Magnolia Hospice for their home care and all the expressions of love and support from friends and the members of Oakland Baptist Church. Her Funeral will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Oakland Baptist Church followed by burial in Dogwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 5:00-9:00 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home and Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 1:00 pm till service time at Oakland Baptist Church. Eugene Morrow and Dr. Randy Bostick will officiate. For those who wish to make memorial contributions, they may be made to Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund 1101 S. Harper Road, Corinth, MS 38834. Magnolia Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
