On May 1, 2020 David Franklin Reece, Jr. eased into the arms of Jesus. Born in Booneville, Mississippi and graduated from Booneville High School in 1991.
He was an avid sports fan and played football under legendary Coach Jim Drewy being part of the state championship winning team in 1990. Frankie was continuing his football career at Northeast Mississippi Community College but was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer ending his playing days. He fought a good fight and kept that illness at bay for many years. Continuing his education at The University of Mississippi in Oxford he graduated in 2015 going on to teach and continue his love of the game and young players by coaching at Terry High School in Terry, MS and Hazlehurst High School in Hazlehurst, MS. Frankie loved his students, helping them to grow as not only athletes but as individuals in life.
He was again diagnosed with cancer in early 2019 and fought again the good fight, always positive and encouraging to those around him until the disease took his earthly body early on May 1, 2020.
He is survived by his son, Davan Reid Reece of Corinth, MS; a sister, Haley Reece of Booneville, MS; a brother, John Hayhurst of Corinth, MS; his mother and stepfather Betty and Doug Hayhurst of Corinth, MS; a grandmother, Opal Reece; A loving friend who cared for him endlessly, Trisha Sanders of Byram, MS and a host of relatives and friends throughout the state.
Frankie was preceded in death by his father, David Reece, Sr.
