David Thompson Hale

David Thompson Hale, age 77, passed away at Magnolia regional Health Center on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. David was born in Sebring, FL on December 4, 1947, to Lawrence G. Hale and Lucylle Hale. He spent his childhood in the Phillippines, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas and followed his family’s tradition of military service.

David began his Air Force career as an Aircraft Control and Warning operator and later became an Air Traffic Controller. His duty stations included Perrin AFB, TX; the Ryuka Islands; Keesler and Columbus AFBs, MS; Tyndall and MacDill AFB,FL; Warner Robins AFB, GA; and Kadena AB, Okinawa. After retiring from the Air Force, David was an instructor supervisor at Keesler AFB in Biloxi.

David received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Southern Mississippi. Because of his love of history, David was a member of Boone’s Louisiana Living History Battery from 1982 until 2020.

After Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home, David and Lucy moved to Corinth. David volunteered with the Alcorn County Schools Community Mentorship Program from 2009 to 21. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Pickwick.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Shaun Marie Hale. His survivors are his wife Lucy K. Hale; his son Timothy D. Hale (Anne); his grandchildren, Miriam C.; Jackson T.; Julia E.; and Luke V. Hale.

The family will have a graveside service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando, Florida. David will be interred next to his daughter Shauni.
