David Lee Basden

A Celebration of Life service for Bro. David Lee Basden, 71 of Rienzi, MS, will be Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with military honors and interment to follow at Magnolia Gardens. Bro. Merle Dixon, Bro. Titus Mathis, Bro. W.H. Burcham and Bro. Earl Rorie will officiate the service. Visitation will Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M and Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 12:30 P M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Bro. Basden passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born October 13, 1948 in Walnut, MS to John Grady Basden and Alice Cordelia Killough Basden. He was the pastor of Tobes Chapel Pentecostal Church, who loved going to church and preaching the gospel. He enjoyed gardening, his tractor and raising and taking care of his cattle. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball and all MSU sports. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hearn Basden of Rienzi, MS; his sons, Jeff Basden (Tiffany) of Rienzi, MS and Jamie Basden (Michelle) of Rienzi, MS; his step-son, Brad Nash (Tawanna) of Sikeston, MO, his step-daughters, Pam Nash Overton (Charles) of Birmingham, AL and Penny Nash Hyrka (Joe) of Memphis, TN; 19 grandchildren, Kylie Gifford, Madison Basden, Brantley Basden, Brady Basden, Grant Saylors (Tracie), Conner Saylors, Megan Basden, Camden Saylors, Colton Basden, John Bennett Basden, Lily Basden, Lola Basden, Baileigh Overton, Trayton Overton, Cayden Overton,Paxten Overton, Olivia Nash, Carson Nash and Brody Nash; 4 great-grandchildren, Sky Cole, Drake Saylors, Carter Saylors and Remi Saylors; his brothers, Willie Basden (Mickey) of Chicago, IL, Bobby Joe Basden of Corinth, MS, Travis Basden of Rienzi, MS and Jerry Basden of Rienzi, MS; his sisters, Shirley Jones (Wayne) of Corinth, MS, Nora Gray (John) of Michie, TN, Betty Timbes of Corinth, MS and Darnell White of Rienzi, MS; his sister-in-law, Jane Mackey of Rienzi, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Betty Sue Basden; his father, John Grady Basden; his mother, Alice Cordelia Killough Basden; his brothers, Roy Basden, Ray Basden, Walter Basden and Donald Basden; his sisters, Velma Burcham, Lorene Jacobs and Mary Lawson and his nephew, Tony Basden. Pallbearers will be Chris Basden, Gerald Kasper, Mike Gray, Roy Lawson, Ronnie Lawson and Brandon Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Nash, Charles Overton, Joe Hyrka, Phil McAllister, Gary Johnson, Rufus Patterson, Walter Deerman and a host of nephews. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Bro. David Lee Basden.
