Dale Darwin, 74, of Weogufka, AL passed away at Coosa Valley Medical Center on Saturday, October 2, 2021. He was born in Alcorn County, MS on July 14, 1947 to the late R.T. and Ruby Devers Darwin. Dale was employed as Occupation Manager/ Bird Dog trainer of Kusa Kamp Quail Hunting Reserve in Weogufka, AL where he could shoot 2 flying quail with one shot. He was a member of several Professional Rodeo Asssocations including PRCA, IRA, ACA, USCRA, and UCRA to name a few. His most recent win was at age 73 wrangling the Ultimate Calf Roping Championship in Glen Rose, TX 2020. He enjoyed calf roping, playing guitar and singing but his greatest passion was spending time with his family. Dale enjoyed treating his entire family to trips to the Smokey Mountains, Nashville, TN State Fair and Athens Fiddlers Convention. He loved a good guitar in his hands and blessed us with bluegrass gospel tunes and his famous Auctioneer Song. He was a true Superman to us all, faster than a speeding bullet, leaping tall buildings in a single bound, he was our HERO. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 12-2 pm Thursday, October 7, 2021at Magnolia Funeral Home - South. A Celebration of Dale’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Magnolia Funeral Home South Chapel officiated by Rev. Joe Schuck, Kenny Harris and Mykie Snyder. Interment will follow in Magnolia Gardens. Those left to honor Dale’s memory include his children, Toinette Franklin (David), LeeAnn Wood (Harold Meherg), and Justin Darwin (Kelly); his grandchildren, Cody Franklin (Haley), Lauren Simmons (Chad), Haley Conaway (Jeremy), Dakota Shaw (T.J.), Tyler Oliver, Katie Bowman, and Suzanne Franklin; his great grandchildren, Tye Franklin, Sadie Franklin, Kaysten Simmons, Jackson Conaway, Crimson Smith, Wrenley Simmons, Blu Franklin, and Drew Nipper; his special friend, Retha Perry; his siblings, Jean Philip’s (Garvin), Arthur Lee Darwin (Darnell), Larry Darwin (Jimmie); other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carolyn McCord Darwin, and his grandchildren, Brandon Franklin, Amber Burns, and Tucker Cheyenne Darwin.
