Columbia A. “C.A.” Gann, 100, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Carrington House in Iuka, MS. He was born in Prentiss County, MS on February 24, 1919 to the late Clee and Luna Gann. C.A. worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps “CCC” at Tishomingo County State Park helping to build the park and the famous swinging bridge that is still in use today. He served in the United States Navy with the 52nd Battalion of Seabees during World War II. After the war C.A. went to work at Berry Hydraulics which later became Tyrone Hydraulics and finally Dana Corporation. He retired from Dana Corporation in 1982. An avid woodworker, he made many pieces of furniture that are treasured possessions of his family. C.A. was a member of Foote Street Church of Christ. Visitation is scheduled from 10am till service time Friday, February 7, 2020 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of C.A.’s life will be held at 11 am Friday, February 7, 2020 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Lance Foster. The eulogy will be delivered by his grandsons: Kent Howie and Joseph Howie. Interment will be in Little Brown Cemetery in New Site, MS. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor C.A’s memory include his daughters: Joyce Anderson and husband Phil of Atlanta, GA and Deborah Proctor and husband Dan of Salem, OR; his son: John Gann and wife Jill of Iuka, MS; four grandchildren: Kent Howie, Joseph Howie, Robin Swartz, and Mary Frances Case; six great-grandchildren: Sarah Howie, Ashley Herd, Johnathan Murphy, Braden Howie, Ethan Howie, and Hudson Howie; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Estelle Crabb Gann; his brothers: Kenneth, Selmon, Johnny, Rufus, and Quindle; and his sisters: Allie, Flora, Pearl and Lillian.
