Clifton B. Marlar, 87, of Burnsville, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center - Iuka. He was a member and longtime trustee of Old Pleasant Hill Church. His devotion to his Lord led him to travel the south ministering and singing gospel music as the leader of the Singing Marlar Family. As well as being known for his great love of music, Mr. Marlar was well known in the local area as a heavy equipment operator and served many families as grave digger. He loved his work, but his greatest passion was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 PM on Friday, June 26, 2015 and from 1 PM till service time on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, officiated by Bro. Mitch McNeese and Bro. Bill Monaghan. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include James Milligan, Danny Marlar, Jessie Marlar, Mike Brown, Sanford Hudson and John Gardner. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Libbie Mae Parker Marlar of Burnsville, MS; his daughters: Patty Joy Marlar of Burnsville, MS and Lynn Marlar Farris and husband Mike of Nettleton, MS; his brother: Elmer Marlar of Iuka, MS; 7 grandchildren: Jeremy Crane, Anitra Prince and husband Mike, Christy Richardson and husband Kevin, Michel Witt and husband Matt, Candace Smith, Felicia Brown and husband Johnny, and Matthew Harris; and 10 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
