Clifford V. Holley proceeded to his heavenly home Saturday, April 22 at Creekside Manor Assisted Living in Saltillo, MS. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 3:30pm Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home with interment in Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1:00 pm until service time on Tuesday. Clifford was born February 2, 1933 in Tippah County, MS to the late Ovid and Verna Tapp Holley and married the late Laura Lee Walker, April 6, 1951. He was a member of Biggersville First Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, trustee, usher and served on several committees. He joined the US Navy in April of 1952 at the age of 19 and served 22 years. He retired as Master Chief Commissionary Man. He served on three destroyers, one aircraft carrier, one tug boat and a subtender. He received the Korean Service Medal, the Korean Service United Nation Medal, the National Defense Medal, the China Service Medal, the United States Good Conduct Medal, and numerous unit commendations. He was involved in row crop and farming after retiring from the Navy. Due to the loss of his eye sight, he then became involved with raising beef cattle. He was named Outstanding Farmer of Alcorn County and served as President and a board member of the Mississippi Farm Bureau. He loved to garden and travel, enjoyed his friends and meeting people. He is survived by his children, Christy Franks (Phillip) of Saltillo MS; Kebby Rider (Robert) of Rienzi, MS; and Stuart Holley of Rienzi, MS; his grandchildren, Danyel Smith (Jerry) of Rienzi, MS; Easy Rider (Britnie) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Kendal Crum (Doris) of Groton, CT; 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Laura Walker Holley; son, Steven Holley; one great-great grandchild; and his father and mother. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Alzheimers Association, Wounded Warrior Project, or Biggersville First Baptist Church.
