Charles Thomas Coln

Charles Thomas Coln, 74, of Savannah, TN, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Savannah, TN. It's hard to know where to begin when talking about a man like Charles Coln, a person that has given so much to others. He was an amazing, brave and strong man who was stubborn as a mule. Charles was a wonderful friend, sibling, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Charles was a Stockman at Chrysler Corporation for 35 years and a proud UAW member of Local 1086. He worked hard to give his family a great life filled with fun, laughs and lots of love. He was married to his wife Gracie for 52 years and in that time they made many wonderful memories and built their own little paradise on Pickwick Lake. Visitation is scheduled from 11 AM until service time Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Charles's life will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, officiated by Pastor Jimmie McChristial. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery - Glen, MS. Pallbearers include Cody Harbin, Dustin Wyatt, Cole Lovell, Roy Coln, Donnie Coln and Ricky Powers. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Charles's memory include his three loving daughters: Donna Macedo, Rhonda Harbin and Tammy Lovell; his grandchildren: Brooke Wyatt, Cody Harbin, Dustin Wyatt, Kristen Ospina (Alex), Alana Macedo, Cole Lovell; his great-grandchildren: Roman, Adriana and Cruz Ospina, Eleanor Naron; his sisters: Barbara Staggs (Earl), Sue Burcham (James) and Ruth Long; his brothers: Jerry Coln (Bridgette) and Roy Coln (Jane); other relatives and a host of friends. Charles was an avid photographer, capturing every moment in time with his family while taking thousands of photographs and countless hours of video. He was always trying to get a laugh, whether you wanted to hear the punch line or not and he loved getting mistaken for Kenny Rogers. Charlie was a pillar of his community; he took care of everyone and was always lending a helping hand. He paid it forward more than anyone. Later in his life, after his retirement, he took up the mantle of animal rescuer. He saved and cared for cats and dogs, even a horse and a hog when no one else would; giving them love, care and a home. They broke the mold when they made Charles Coln and unfortunately there will never be another as special as him. This wonderful man will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years: Gracie Allen Shults Coln and his parents: John Thomas and Edna Grace Mullins Coln. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hardin County Animal Rescue or Carols Cats TN River Rescue. Online condolences may be expressed at magnoliafuneralhome.net.
