A Celebration of Life Service for Mavis Charlene Sloan Floyd will be Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 A M at Magnolia Funeral Home – South Chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M. and Friday, April 11, 2025 from 10:00 A M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – South. Rev. Ronald Jones and Rev. Eddie Jones will officiate the service. Mrs. Floyd passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born July 3, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Edgar and Emily Pearl Barnes Sloan as the oldest of six children. She went on to have five children while successfully running several businesses over the years, such as the Sportsmans’ Restaurant and Lounge, the Shangri-La Restaurant and Junkers Parlor Antiques, which she and her husband, Harold Floyd ran until their retirement. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was, when she was able, very active in the church helping with organizing and raising money to build up the ladies and youth groups. She was a very hard worker and very much enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, painting, and quilting or any new craft trend. She wore each one well and gave it her all. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Floyd; her two sons, Tony and Ricky Moody; her three grandchildren, Stevie Willis, Timothy Morrow, and Carly Meeks Koehler; three brothers, Sherman Sloan, Dan Sloan and David Sloan. Charlene is survived by her daughters, Judy Morrow, Kathy Moody and Sherri Smith (Rick); eleven grandchildren, James Morrow (Andrea), Derek Meeks (Morgan), Brandon Moody (Amy), Tyler Smith (Adrianna), Nisa King (Justin) Casey Arnold (James), Denise Gray (William), Tamatha Willis, Trina Crum (Johnny), Alyson Fite (Zack) and Cole Floyd (Erin); several great grandchildren; her sister, Connie Jones (Ronald) her step daughter, Diane Voyles; her step son, Lance Floyd (Mary Jane); her daughter-in-law, Deb Moody; other relatives and a host of friends. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mavis Charlene Sloan Floyd.
