Betty Jean Wood

Betty Jean Wood, nee Bobo, born August 14, 1932, went to be with our Lord on October 20, 2017 in Normal, IL.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wood, her parents, Melinda and Samuel Bobo, sisters Theola Bobo and Helen Higginbottom, and brothers, James, Robert and Rufus Bobo.   Betty is survived by her son, Gregory (Kelly) Wood, of Bloomington, IL, grandson, Alex (Lauren) Wood, and great-grandsons Christian and Carson Wood, all of Joshua, TX.  She is also survived by her siblings Evelyn Rinehart, Harold (Mavis) Bobo, Willa (Cecil) Woodruff, and Bill (Maret) Bobo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.   Betty was born and raised in Corinth, MS, then moved to Chicago, IL when she was 19.  Betty worked the majority of her life at what is now AT&T before retiring with Ralph back to Corinth, MS.  Betty was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, especially Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth, MS.  Betty moved to Bloomington, IL with her son and his family in 2012, eventually moving into the Legacy unit of Heritage Manor in Normal, IL where she received excellent care and love.   Funeral arrangements have been made at Magnolia Funeral Home, 2024 US 72, Corinth, MS.  Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with funeral beginning at 3:00 pm.  Betty will be laid to rest at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Glen, MS.
