Betty James Waldon Glover, 81, of Walnut, MS, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Alcorn County, MS on January 25, 1937 to the late Jeff Mathis and Martha Dora Taylor Mathis. Betty was a lifelong member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years. She was a member of the Corinth Chapter #27 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a retired seamstress with Corinth Manufacturing. When Betty was near, the air was full of one of three things: delicious smells, beautiful music, or lively conversation. When her large family gathered together they numbered 41, and Betty would feed each one of them. She didn’t consider it a successful meal until everyone had eaten a slice of her legendary chocolate pie. Betty taught herself to play the piano as well as many other instruments and she reveled in sharing her music. No one around her could fear hunger – she was always ready with food. No one at her church could fear loneliness – her music followed them home. And Betty did not fear death – it was just a new verse of a new song. Betty will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she loved. Visitation is scheduled for 5-9 pm Monday, February 19, 2018 and from 10 am till service time Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. W.C. Alexander, Rev. Josh Westmoreland and Rev. Doc Shelton.
