Don Anthony “Rabbit” Churchwell , 69 of Florence, AL passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at North Alabama Medical Center after a sudden illness. There will be a graveside memorial service held at a later date, to be announced by the family, at Oakhill Cemetery in St. Florian, AL. Born October 30, 1952 in Florence, AL, Rabbit was an accomplished musician and fisherman. He spent many hours on the TN River at Wilson Dam fishing with his family and friends and he loved it. Rabbit played a left handed bass guitar by ear with the group Toga out of Corinth, MS for many years. When he was not on the river, he was playing music. Once you met him, he was your friend for life. Rabbit lived a life that very few people got to live and he will be missed by many. Our only consolation is that through death he gave the gift of life to others.
Anthony is survived by his son, Erik Liles; brothers, Stephen Churchwell, Ray Churchwell and wife Pam and Scotty Churchwell; sister, Debra Sylvester; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Don Churchwell and wife Christine; mother, Martha Ruth Churchwell; brother, Terry Churchwell; sister-in-law, Teresa Churchwell; nephew, Jeremy Lee Churchwell and niece, Ashley Rae Churchwell.
Shared memories will be welcomed at the graveside memorial to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Stephen Churchwell, Ray Churchwell or Gaye Robinson to help with expenses.
Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Don Anthony “Rabbit” Churchwell.
