Alva Sadler Dalton Jr., 85, of Corinth, MS passed away at his residence on Friday, October 1, 2021. He was born in Corinth, MS on October 27, 1935 to the late Alva Sadler Dalton Sr. and Mary Elma Coleman Dalton and graduated from Corinth High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College before attended Millsaps College. Mr. Dalton retired as President of ITT Telecommunications North America after serving 31 years in other capacities within ITT and was awarded the first Harold S. Geneen “Creative Management Award” in 1980 in recognition of Management Excellence. Mr. Dalton was a member of Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church serving as member of several committees as well as Substitute Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. He served as Executive Board Member of Boy Scouts of America, Member of Board of Directors of Mississippi Manufacturers Association, Director of Corinth-Alcorn Chamber of Commerce, President of Corinth Boosters Club, Board Member of Alcorn County Mental Health Committee, Member of MEC’s Free Enterprise Committee and Director of Mississippi Economic Council. He will forever be remembered by his family as a great husband, father and grandfather. Fond memories of being outdoors and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are just a part of the legacy of this good man. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 1-2 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021at Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church. Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing are requested by the family. A Celebration of Mr. Dalton’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Trey Lambert. Family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include former employees of ITT and members of Jack Williams Sunday School Class at Gaines Chapel UMC. Interment will follow in Shiloh Methodist Cemetery – Shiloh, TN. Those left to honor Mr. Dalton’s memory include his wife of 47 years, Sherril Gray Dalton of Corinth; his sons, Alva Sadler Dalton III and wife Wanda of Florence, AL and Terry F. Dalton and wife Sherry of Corinth; his grandchildren, Terry “TJ” F. Dalton Jr. (Britney), Whitney Dalton Butler (Brad), Anna Haze Dalton Torres (Refugio), and Allyson Dalton Johnson (Jacob); 7 great grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Lonnie Coleman Dalton and wife Joyce of Stone Mountain, GA; other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Mae Dalton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Gaines Chapel United Methodist Church.
